Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (milk, semi-sweet, or a mix)

Instructions

  1. Cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  2. Add eggs one at a time and then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 24 hours.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets, leaving 2 inches between each cookie.
  9. Bake for 9-12 minutes until edges are golden brown and centers are soft.
  10. Cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider toasting the flour and don’t skip chilling the dough to improve texture.
