Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened, 250 grams)
  • ¼ cup icing sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup blueberries (fresh)
  • ¼ cup blueberry jam
  • 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed, homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 large egg (whisked)
  • 1 lemon (zested, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line 2 large baking trays with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, icing sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla extract. Blend until completely smooth.
  3. In another bowl, mix the blueberries with the blueberry jam until combined.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, unroll the puff pastry sheets and cut them into 9 rectangles.
  5. Score a smaller rectangle inside each piece, leaving a 1/3” border.
  6. Brush the edges of each danish with the whisked egg.
  7. Spoon about 1 ½ tablespoons of cream cheese mixture into the center of each pastry, then top with the blueberry jam mixture.
  8. Transfer the pastries to the prepared baking trays, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 13 to 15 minutes, until puffed and golden, rotating halfway through.
  10. Let them cool slightly before serving; optionally sprinkle with lemon zest.

Notes

You can substitute blueberries with other fruits like raspberries or peaches. Ensure your cream cheese is well softened for a smooth filling.
