Ingredients

- 2 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 cup Granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 cup Unsalted butter (softened)
- 1/4 cup Buttermilk
- 1 large Egg
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- Gel food coloring (pink and blue)
- Cotton candy flavoring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream softened butter and sugar in a large bowl until fluffy (about 3 minutes).
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and buttermilk to the creamed mixture; mix until combined.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients.
- Divide dough in half; color one with pink gel food coloring and the other with blue.
- Take small amounts of each colored dough, press them together, and form balls. Place on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden and centers are soft.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Can be frozen for up to 1 month.
