Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1/4 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • Gel food coloring (pink and blue)
  • Cotton candy flavoring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream softened butter and sugar in a large bowl until fluffy (about 3 minutes).
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and buttermilk to the creamed mixture; mix until combined.
  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients.
  6. Divide dough in half; color one with pink gel food coloring and the other with blue.
  7. Take small amounts of each colored dough, press them together, and form balls. Place on a lined baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden and centers are soft.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Can be frozen for up to 1 month.
