Description

A comforting yet guilt-free version of Salisbury steaks made with ground beef or turkey and served in a rich mushroom gravy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef or turkey, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Shape into 4–6 patties and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil and brown the patties for about 4–5 minutes on each side. Remove from skillet.
  4. Add sliced mushrooms to the skillet and sauté until softened.
  5. Pour in beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  6. Create a cornstarch slurry with water and stir it into the simmering mixture.
  7. Return the patties to the skillet and let them simmer together for about 5-7 minutes.

Notes

Rest the patties for better texture while cooking. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to three days or frozen for a month.
